Adoption of a National Domain Policy
and Regulation on the .gov.ng sub-domain
Invitation to stakeholders consultative Forum
In accordance with section 6 of the National Information technology development Agency Act 2007, NITDA hereby wishes to inform the .gov.ng stakeholders and the general internet community in Nigeria of its intention to adopt a national Policy and Regulation on the .gov.ng sub-domain to be enforced across the three tiers of government in Nigeria, for the purpose of, among others:
- Establish a central naming Registry
- Creating a Naming Convention
- Harmonizing domain name registration process
- Adopting dispute settlement Rules and Procedures
- Migrating all government Domains to the .GOV.NG sub-domain; and
- Transferring all government email services to the .GOV.NG platform.
The following .gov.ng stakeholders are hereby invited to attend the Consultative Forum scheduled below:
– The Nigerian Internet Registration Association
- All Federal government Ministries, Departments and Agencies, (MDA’s)
- All public Corporations and Companies belonging to the Federal Government
- All head of IT in the 36 States and the Federal capital Territory (FCT), and
- Relevant officers in all the local government Areas, LGA’s in Nigeria.
