Dear Colleagues, dear Friends,

On behalf of the new scientific Committee of the European society for sexual medicine, we extend to everyone interested in sexual medicine a warm welcome to the 2009 ESSM meeting, which will be held in Lyon on the next fall season.

The new scientific committee comprises well-recognized European scientists and researchers, widely and extensively involved with and devoted to sexual medicine, which is the medicine of health, well being, dyadic relationships… in other worlds the medicine of “the human being”!

The scientific Committee has structured a greatly innovative program for the next Lyon meeting. men’s, women’s, and couple’s issues will be comprehensively debated throughout the meeting, with particular attention to some of the less well inves tigated aspects of the human being’s sexual health, …at least in Europe.

Everyday clinical practice in both genders will be explored, with round tables and lectures dedicated to themes including disorders of the male’s ejaculation and orgasm and the impact of hormones and other therapeutic compounds on men’s sexuality. surgery will have a large part in the meeting, with particular interest to the so-called “surgical prevention programs”. Likewise, women’s sexual health will be extensively discussed with emphasis on the menopause, comorbid conditions and the “plague” of sexual violence. But ESSM is “THE” society for developing knowledge and helping sexuality of all “human beings“; As a result the topics of homosexuality and gender identity disorders will also have a major space in the Lyon meeting.

The President and the scientific Committee are particularly happy and proud to unvite you all to attend the scientific sessions of the Essm 2009 annual meeting! We wait for you; we need you all to keep sexual medicine a viable and compelling field of the medical knowledge.
