<p><span class="apple-style-span">WGI is an initiative geared towards building a critical mass of gender equality specialists around the globe, especially in Africa. Through WGI and other training courses, WERHC is poised to transform indigenous organizations into vibrant entities that deliver quality results in a timely and accountable manner.</span></p>
<p><span class="apple-style-span">It is interesting to note that several African nations including Nigeria now have National Gender Policies. Even the Global Fund for AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria now demands gender mainstreaming in country proposals.<span id="more-409"></span></span></p>
<p><span class="apple-style-span">What is the link between Gender Equality and Health, Governance, Education, the Economy, Climate Change, etc? This course addresses these and other issues.</span></p>
<p><span class="apple-style-span">The course brings together a total of 30 participants of all sexes from all over Africa and is based on WERHC&#8217;s Gender Training Manual and will cover the following topics:</span></p>
<p><span class="apple-style-span">-Gender-related concepts and theories (WID, WAD, GAD, Women Empowerment etc)</span><br />
<span class="apple-style-span">-Exploring international,regional and national instruments for gender equality and human rights</span><br />
<span class="apple-style-span">-Advocacy for gender equality</span><br />
<span class="apple-style-span">-Power relations and decision-making</span><br />
<span class="apple-style-span">-Gender and Masculinity</span><br />
<span class="apple-style-span">-Gender Analytical frameworks</span><br />
<span class="apple-style-span">-How to conduct gender analysis and gender mainstreaming in  programmes, projects, policies and organizations</span><br />
<span class="apple-style-span">-Gender Budgeting</span><br />
<span class="apple-style-span">-Applying gender to key issues in governance,RH and HIV/AIDS, Violence, education, etc</span><br />
<span class="apple-style-span">-Gender Management Systems</span></p>
<p><span class="apple-style-span">Methodology:</span><br />
<span class="apple-style-span">A combination of participatory training methods will be employed including presentations, discussions, questions and answers, brainstorming, role plays, games, case studies, practical(hands-on) sessions, self-assessments, organizational assessments, small working groups, etc</span></p>
<p><span class="apple-style-span">Training Materials:</span><br />
<span class="apple-style-span">A compendium of training materials and papers presented  will be</span><br />
<span class="apple-style-span">provided for each trainee.</span></p>
<p><span class="apple-style-span">Transportation:</span><br />
<span class="apple-style-span">Trainees will be responsible for their transportation to the training venue. WERHC can however arrange transportation including airport shuttles (provided that trainees pick the bills).</span></p>
<p><span class="apple-style-span">Accommodation:</span><br />
<span class="apple-style-span">The trainees will be responsible for accommodation in Abuja.WERHC can however arrange accommodation at negotiated rates.</span></p>
<p><span class="apple-style-span">Tea/Coffee breaks and Group Lunch:</span><br />
<span class="apple-style-span">These will be provided by WERHC on training days only.</span></p>
<p><span class="apple-style-span">Certification:</span><br />
<span class="apple-style-span">All courses are certified.</span></p>
<p><span class="apple-style-span">On-going Mentoring:</span><br />
<span class="apple-style-span">WERHC provides on-going mentoring and refresher courses for alumni of WGI.Our Alumni Network provides opportunities for technical assistance, experience and information-sharing.</span></p>
<p><span class="apple-style-span">Faculty: The training faculty for the 2009 courses is made up of seasoned professionals and gender experts with vast experience in local and international organizations.</span></p>
<p><span class="apple-style-span">Tuition:</span><br />
<span class="apple-style-span">N50,000.00 (US$450) flat rate. This covers the cost of training, training materials, tea breaks, water, honoraria and group lunch.</span></p>
