9 Jul 2009
Location: Venue TBC – Likely to be at the Science Museum in London
Organiser: Shine

What is it: The aim of the EA and Shine partnership is to showcase a commitment to creative industries and how they will become more important as ‘talent’ becomes Britain’s only natural resource. It is designed to encourage children to recognise the different talents involved – it is not about just having an interest in gaming; physics, maths, storytelling and design are all needed and used when creating video games.

The session on the Thursday of Shine week will be a master class for three school classes (of about 30 children) which can be won through entering a competition through First News and Toxic magazines. Schools will be able to find details to apply on the Shine website.

The master class session will involve:

Making of Harry Potter talk and video; how gaming industry and film industry are working closer together

Boom Blox Master class – where children are invited to create their own level for the new game on an Nintendo Wii

Amir Rahimi (Exec Producer of the game from the studio in LA) will lead the master class

It will be fun and interactive, not a lecture

When: Thursday 9th July

Class one: 9am – 12noon

Class two: 1pm – 3pm

Class three: 4pm – 6pm

The hours in between the classes can be used for media interviews

Who is eligible?

We are looking for three classes of approx. 30 children (90 in total). They would be sourced through the media partnership with additional promotion from Shine through CCE and DCSF

To take part contact: Lydia Howard at The Red Consultancy on 0207 025 6583 or email Lydia.howard@redconsultancy.com

Few events in today’s international calendar like the London to Brighton Veteran Car Run can claim such individuality, personality and character as around 500 fine examples of pre 1905 manufacture demonstrate their early engineering ability.

Royalty and personalities from the world of television, stage, music and sport often participate on the annual run which takes place on the first Sunday in each November and this website aims to provide detailed background and current event information for both spectators and participants alike.

Official event souvenirs including the event programme will also be available on line and website visitors will be pleased to note that spectating on the day is absolutely FREE of charge as the official route takes in the suburbs of London via Brixton, Lambeth and Streatham on the A23 and on through Norbury to Croydon and then the A235 to Purley reverting to the A23 to Redhill, Horley, Gatwick and Crawley plus the towns and villages on route to Brighton via Cuckfield and Burgess Hill. (See route page for full details)

The annual event benefits from support from long standing sponsors Tindle Newspapers, Renault, Bonhams, Wyler Geneve, Autocar, Classic & Sports Car, RAC Recovery, Hagerty, Kuoni DMC, The Regent Street Association, Castrol and new for 2009, 3-in-One and Ballie Gifford, have all added their long term commitment to the popular celebration of motoring. Both the promoters and organisers much appreciate the support given by these companies.

The event also has an addition in the London to Brighton Veteran Car Run Concours which takes place during the Saturday in Regent Street, London on the day before each annual Run. Over 100 of the finest examples of these Veteran cars can be viewed close up in all their fine glory, all FREE of charge to the visiting public. And for 2008, the dancers from the Moulin Rouge will be performing the French Cancan at the event.

Additionally the LBVCR Auction presented by Bonhams will be in action on Friday 30 October. A line-up of Brighton eligible Veteran cars will go under the hammer at the New Bond Street Salerooms along with over 100 lots of Automobilia, with some in aid of a nominated Charity. Viewing is throughout Thursday (all day) and Friday morning with more details available from Bonhams at www.bonhams.com and 020 7629 6602.
